Writing - Spring Season Poetry Bundle - (KS1/Lower KS2)
With the National Curriculum in mind, I have created a set of lessons based on poetry with tasks attached. As reinforced in the National Curriculum, children should experience of high-quality discussions on a wide range of poems. Be able to learn and appreciate rhymes and poems, and to recite some by heart. Children should be given the opportunities to prepare and perform poems understanding through intonation, tone and volume so that the meaning is clear to an audience. With the National Curriculum in mind, I have created this season-based lesson. As reinforced by the National Curriculum, children should experience high-quality discussions on a wide range of poems and learn the poetry tools to create their own.
The season focus for this lesson is Autumn, with mention of the Halloween and 5th of November. Many detailed pictures and videos are attached (leaves, types of leaves, natural views of the process of autumn, chocolates, candied apples). Try using detailed words for inspiration and encourage discussion of some photos to share descriptive words (cinnamon rolls- sweet/soft/fluffy, leaf- dry/crunchy/crisp).

This lesson aims to spark children’s curiosity about the past while providing them with a chronologically secure understanding of the history of castles in the United Kingdom. Their purpose and a quick recap of the four countries in the United Kingdom (Wales, England, Scotland and Northern Ireland). The slides include a castle from each country (Windsor Castle, Edinburgh castle, Shane’s castle and Cardiff castle).
